Cannot get XP Security Patch to load

I can download it to my desktop, but when I try to launch
it for installation, an error message pops up and says it
is compatible with win32--anyone know what this means? I
don't want to get a worm or virus because I cannot load
this latest patch.

You have a 32 bit computer.
Did you download and attempt to install the 64 bit version?
You need the 32 bit version.
Possibly a bad download.
