XP Password problem

Hello

I have a laptop (HP Compaq nx9010) running XP Pro (Service Pack 1 from
memory) that I cannot log into.

The two users & administrator passwords are "correct " according to an
online Login Recovery Service I used to reveal them. However I cannot
login with any of them. I get an error message "The local Policy of this
system does not permit you to login interactively" or have you forgotten
your password (or similar} Pressing OK takes me back to the password
entry page.

The passwords previously worked fine.

Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on solving this problem.
