xp password logon

hi,
we have a compaq laptop and last night did an xp security update...this
morning on turning the laptop on all the user accounts want us to use a
password before we can log on, we have never used a password and so cant
access any of the accounts (including administrator) is there any way i can
reset all passwords, or change them without logging on?
