XP or ATI ?

This morning after starting my computer my ATI graphics would not let me into
the control panel. Every time I start the computer or try to open Catalyst
control center it tells me I do not have permission to change settings. The
only account on my computer is owner-administrator so I know I'm logged in as
administrator. So far I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all ATI
stuff and even with the latest Catalyst 6.2 drivers. No joy. I also tried
taking control of the ATI folders but not sure if I'm doing that correctly.
Anybody got any ideas? I've not had any problems until I started the computer
this morning. Had Catalyst 5.13 installed when it started and now the 6.2.
Otherwise the graphics are working fine and everything else on the computer
seems to be A-OK.
My machine is XP MCE. I have a Pentium D processor, 1 gig of ram. Net
Framework 1.1 with the hotfix is installed along with all other XP updates.
Any help is much appreciated.

If you can not access this as the administrator and the computer is connected
onto the Internet, you may need to check for some type of spyware infestation,
since this appears to be a 'classic" symptom of such infestation.

Check with ati.com. It's been awhile now, but I remember reading about that
on their site--maybe on a forum or in a FAQ section?
