Which is the better of the two and why?

XP by far for many reasons. Stability is the main one, though. Not needing
to reboot is another.

Greetings --

FYI, for future reference, comparing WinXP to Win98 is a lot like
comparing a Lexus to a Yugo -- any similarities are entirely
superficial. Why? The reasons are far too numerous to list. Let's
start with WinXP's far greater stability, reliability, and security,
compared to Win98's none of the above.

XP is supported..
Thanks for the comments, I thought Win98se was still supported as I keep
getting updates on my old pc. BTW how do you switch off automatic updates in
XP as my newer pc doesn't like the updates it crashes after they have been
installed, even now when I have just done a complete re-install on a clean
formatted HD tthe pc still becomes unstable and suffers from lock ups.(?)
