XP not supporting older aplications

i have a game (machines from acclaim) from about 5 years ago
i want to run it again i trie'd to but it give's me a is no valid win 32 aplication error
on windows xp
so i mailed their tech support to get a reponse
the game does not support windows XP..

is there any way i can still make this game run for me?
 
Right click on the icon, click Properties
Click Compatibility tab.
Try the different options.
You may need to buy a newer version.
