Hello,

I just installed a 2nd external USB 80 GB hard drive. The first one
installed flawlessly and I formatted it with 3 partitions. It was so easy I
decided to add a 2nd external HD but XP is now making up the easy install of
the 1st one.

Anyway XP recognizes the device, device manager locates it under the 1st and
indicates no problems. The problem is that it is not being assigned a drive
letter so I can't access it for formatting, etc.

Advice, comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Right click My Computer, Click Manage, Click on Disk Management.
You can format it there.

Right click on My Computer and select Manage. On the following screen,
select Disk Management. The new drive should appear on the right hand side
of the screen and you can assign a drive letter or letters here.

Thanks to all, got it working.

Just as a point of information XP required "Control Panel/Administrative
Tools/Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management".

Thanks again
