XP new install reboots during bootup

I had installed XP Pro over 2000 after which my motherboard failed. I then
got a new motherboard (ASUS A7N8X-E) and now it reboots during the first
third of displaying the white bar at the bottom. I can't get it to boot of
the XP install CD. I tried VGA mode, secure mode and several other option,
always the same result. I went into the BIOS and made the CD the primary
boot device. I see the prompt "boot from CD :" but don't get asked to hit
space. I tried hitting space or y at that point, but it always goes to the
menue where I select which OS to boot. Booting an older OS doesn't work
either.

Where do I go from here?

BTW: I already registered XP for the old hardware. Right now only the HDD
and the video card are the same as before. I know I can alter three items,
but am not sure which are included.

Happy holidays...

This is probably a hardware problem: When replacing the motherboard,
you did not connect the CD drive the way it should be connected. You
can easily prove this: Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk from
www.bootdisk.com, then try to access the CD drive. Most likely you
can't!

The answer: Fix your CD drive problem, and everything else will follow.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't do anything to the CD, but replaced the graphics card and then it
worked...

Thanks anyway.
