My scenario consists in a Windows 2000 domain controller,
with Active Directory, and 4 Windows XP Professional SP1
as a clients. When one of the clients attempts to copy a
large file from file server -around 400 Mb- the process
hungs and it loses the network connections. The network
is a fast Ethernet implementation. I attempt to do the
same operation with a Windows XP Pro without the service
pack and the process seems to work correctly.

Do somebody know any patches to apply that solve my
problem or another method?

Thank you everybody. and sorry for my english.

Have you tried changing the network cable? Are there many collisions?
Check that the tcp packet size is 1500 bytes
