XP Networking: accessing local & networked shares

Chuck

would u recommend I try resetting my LSP/winsock??

To fix a corrupted LSP / Winsock in XP SP2:

1. Start - Run - "cmd".
2. Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" into the command window.
3. Reboot.

P.S. was an IT manager...software development.....also managed the unix
system adm group for a few years for a BIG company. So not too bad at
debugging. Just know little about networking innards and debugging them.

Mike,

The corrupted LSP / Winsock is my suspicion right now. But please don't limit
yourself to Step #5. Please try each step in my article, and repeat the
sequence, until no changes are made by any step.

I have absolutely no problem accessing the internet via my router from either
computer. Have any bearing on LSP/Winsock?

Mike,

The LSP / Winsock is so versatile and so tricky to diagnose. It's unbelievable
how granular and arbitrary its effects may seem. Be patient and persistent.

Mike,

My blog, and its many words of wisdom, may or may not be accessible during the
coming time. Blogspot has been having intermittent problems, which may continue
for some time. This is affecting thousands of people, some trying to access my
blogs, others any of hundreds of other blogs of other people.
