Can anyone help me? I got a virus on my tower, it has Xp home edition,
with service pack 2 on it. A virus got into it, and erased the above
file. From everything I read, that file can be repaired, but I don't
know how! Help wwould be greatly appreciated. Ray

Hi Ray,

Check out this MSKB article:

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from
starting
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=307545
Take note of the Warning in the SUMMARY section before performing the
actions described

Also, if the install CD that you have is a Recovery or Restore CD provided
by a computer manufacturer, that will not work to perform the
repair.....contact the computer manufacturer's tech support in order to find
out the best method for resolving the problem.

Regards,
