XP loops during install

System:

P4 3.2G
SATA drives
1G Ram

When trying to install XP Home, first part of installation works OK then
after system re-boots, it goes back to the installation again rather than
continuing with the installation.

Really appreciate finding out a solution or fix for this!

What happens if you go along with the installation prompts again? It's
possible it will see what has already been done and hop up to where you
expect it to start from after the reboot.
 
No, after multiple tries to allow it to continue, it just goes back and
starts installation procedure again.

Remove the CD or don't boot from it! Just remove the CD, let it go and when
it finishes loading, it will prompt for the CD and finish installation. When
it finishes the second time, remove the CD and don't re-insert it.

I agree
though usually with Win XP CDs you get he message "press any key to
boot from CD" and if you press nothing it won't boot from it. I wonder
why he appears not to get that
