Hi, Im trying to instal MiniSAP onto XP. Before this can
be done I need to change the network DNS settings. The
instructions are only for w2000. How can I do this in XP?
(w2000 instructions below:) Thanks.

Installing the Mini SAP Basis System:
Network Configuration

----------------------------------------------------------
----------------------

The Mini SAP Basis System must be installed in a
functioning network where the host is able to answer to
the ping command.

Problems occur in the following cases:

No network adapter (NIC) is installed on the computer
(Control Panel: Network -> Adapters)
The DHCP Server that dynamically determines the IP
address is not available at the time of the installation.
You can avoid these problems by installing the virtual
interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter.

IInstalling the MS Loopback Adapter

Choose Control Panel -> Network.

On the Adapters tab, Add the MS Loopback Adapter.

Assign a permanent IP adddress to the MS Loopback Adapter.
On the tab IP Adresse select Specify an IP address and
enter information in the fields IP Address, Subnet Mask
und Default Gateway . See the example in graphic 1.

Graphic 1: Assigning a permanent IP Address

For all other settings, keep the default values.

In the dialog box that appears, confirm your entries with
Yes (see graphic 2).

If you have installed several network adapters, move the
MS Loopback Adapter to the top of the Bindings List. See
graphic 3.

Editing the hosts file
In the file C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts enter:

<permanent IP address> <host name>
