I am having some kind of conflict. It started before SP-2 install and seems
to be affected by audio and IE or Explorer operation. I suddenly get strange
static like sounds from my speakers for 10 to 40 seconds that end with (1) no
problem, (2) no sound, or (3) PC is totally locked up and only a hard reset
works. No error file is made. I have uninstalled and reinstalled sound card
and updated drivers but have no clue to proceed with. Task manager shows
nothing out of the ordinary. I have all the anti-spyware, virus, adware
solutions and use them regularly. Problem started when my hard drive was
moved from my older PC (failed PS) to a new barebones box. I cleaned out the
old drivers, etc., where possible. This is intermittent but can happen
frequently. Usually when I listen to streaming audio. Any special ideas?
PC is 1300 MHz Celeron w/646 Meg RAM

Sorry I didn't mention it is AGP sound. I really don't know if I can move it.
There is a VIA AC'97 Audio Controller that seems to be PCI that I can try.
I'll wait before I try the move to see if there is more feedback.

To Rich: I opened up the PC and removed a modem I was not using, moved the
PCI card and my problem seems to be gone. Not quite the same solution but a
good idea from you. I thank you. Actually the problem was more involved as
scrolling in a window also affected sound but does not now. I think you folks
do much more good than you may know. Really appreciate the forums.
