Xp freezes all the time, the event viewer log has this
erro message, AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from
an illegal IO port address (0xcfc), which lies in the
0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to
system instability.

Can anyone help or advise.

This indicates that your motherboard has an older BIOS that has trouble
with XP's acpi implementation. Go to your motherboard mftr.'s website
and see if there is a BIOS update available. Please read all the
instructions carefully before you flash your BIOS.

I have this same error in my Event log, but I do not think it has any
effect on system performance. Most likely you compter freezing is
caused by some other malfunction. I would examine recent software
installations for conflicts; look for spywayre/adware and other malware,
etc. As pointed out on earlier posts, you would be in for a tedious
process to reinstall everything; on top of which it may not solver your
problem at all.
