I/O port errors

I have been having hard lock ups (ie have to use the
reset switch) in win XP. I am running an Athlon 1.3 Gig
CPU. Here are soem logs of why the error happens:

Event Source: ACPI
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4

Time: 7:40:14 AM

Description:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO

Both entries in the event log show up after every hard
lock. Is there some way I can "shut off" or prevent the
system from using the address that seems to be the
problem?

Thanks, I was actually looking for a bios update for. I
have an email in to the manufacturer since there website
did not have my model of MoBo listed.

Take a look at these two sites.

Then goto your motherboard manufacturer's website and get the latest bios
and see if it resolves this problem. If it doesn't, contact your
motherboard manufacturer and ask them to resolve this issue, citing the two
links above.

Most current motherboards, if they haven't had the issue resolved already,
have fixes forthcoming in a future bios upgrade.
