XP Laptops on Domain

Folks,
I run 350 workstation Active Directory. My policy until now has been to not
allow laptops into the domain. HOwever I would liek to know if there is a
good way of having laptops use the domain, but still retain the ability to
work remotely.

Ideally I would like to achieve the following:
-Laptops access the domain when plugged including mapping My Docs to the
users area
-Laptops will work once they are unplugged from the network
-Ideally My Docs would be synchronised so that it can be accessed when
unplugged, but this is a utopian solution!

Any thoughts on how best to achieve this?

Thanks

Windows XP includes all the tools you need to do this. Cached logon
credentials on the laptop will allow it to be used when away from the
network, and offline files will allow you to maintain both local and network
copies of files that can be synchronized when the laptop is re-connected to
the network.

Read more about cached-credential logon here:

and offline files here:

Particular Network Connection Becomes Available":
