XP Language

I have been given a laptop which has windows xp home
edition loaded on it but the language is German. Can I
change the language in windows (if so how)or do I have to
purchase an English version of xp?

You can't change the Language. You will have to purchase an English Retail
version of XP.

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.
