xp keeps restarting itself

here is my problem. i went to the microsoft website and i
was installing the new updates for my computer. while
doing this install, my computer froze. so i had to hit
the reset button on the computer. Now, my computer keeps
rebooting by itself. Like it will say microsoft windows
xp and instead of going to the screen with all the
usernames, it just reboots by itself. here are some steps
i have tried already
1. i tried to reboot it in safe mode- nothing happened
2. i tried to change it to last good known configuration-
nothing happened
3. i tried to do the restore setting when u hit f8( i
forget the exact name of it)
4. i tried to load an xp cd but it wouldnt load up
5. i went into the bios, changed it so it would boot from
the cd first. that didnt work
6. i went into bios and changed it to default settings.
that didnt work.

for the meantime, i hooked up my xp home computer. the
computer that is messed up is xp professional
