Windows XP keeps resetting its self every time that I try to start up
my computer the same happens when I try to use safe mode or to restore
to last known good config. Just wondering if anyone has any Ideas on
how to solve this problem or why it might be happening? cause its a
real pain not being able to use my computer.

If you have an XP installation CD, go to the following website for the step by step instructions on performing a repair install.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install:

If your system came pre-installed and you do not have an XP CD, contact the vendor for instructions on re-installing XP.

How far does it get when it resets itself? I see that you can get int
the start-up page but after that how far does it get?

More than likely it is a hardware issue as it won't allow you to lo
in at all.

1)I would suspect that it is either a memory issue in which you migh
tell if you look at the post screen to see how much memory i
registered and if you knew how much you have...there will be
difference if failed memory is culprit

2) heat issues can be determined by checking the bios for heat temp
and see what they are reading or by opening the case an observing fo
failed fans or clogged with dust

3) something may have gotten dislodged or the likes. You can (syste
is off and unplugged) remove and replace all the add-on cards to se
if they can be re-seated properly

4) while in the off and unplugged position remove all the unneccesar
cards and see if one of those may be causing the failed boot-up

Hope that help

Hi, Thanks for that. It gets to the point where is scanning the hard
disk for errors once it finishes this it just restarts and does the
same thing again.

Colin,
I had a similar problem and I reloaded windows and the problem was fixed.
Another time it was a bad memory chip. If you have more than one bank remove
one and see if the problem is solved. If not, remove another, etc.
