Hi

I am having a problem with a XP system on a laptop that
after installing alot of critical updates from the windows
update site (I do not think it ever had any of the updates
installed since new until now) it asked to reboot the
system and since this the machine will bootup and get a
bsod that flashes up very quickly and then the system
reboots itself! I can get the boot menu by holding F8 on
bootup and I have tried all options. After selecting any of
them the system reboots again and then continues to reboot
itself over and over. I cannot get to a command prompt to
check anything. The machine worked fine until I installed
the critical updates which included SP4. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Rob

where did you get the updates?
there is no sp4 for xp, only for win 2000.

SP4? We haven't even had SP2 yet. I'm not sure what you downloaded and
installed, but I think you're going to have to try a Repair Install.
Here's a link to instructions:

Best of luck,

Next time install one at a time and dont install any driver updates if
you're not having a problem with drivers.

Sorry I was thinking Win2k. I am helping someone with this
problem. They had never updated any of the critical
updates and had installed all of them and now has ended up
with a non functional computer.

Thanks
