Hi, I have a problem with XP Pro.
It keeps rebooting soon after showing XP logo. I can hear something
happens and the screen becomes black and reboot. I tried to enter in
safe mode, last good configuration, debug mode, etc. Nothing happens,
always the same situation. If I try to boot from cd and try to recover
the XP installation (not from the console, I mean trying to recover
the XP version already installed), after few minutes, it start with a
new installation.
I can't get into Windows, so I can't change any
options/files/parameters or whatever from there.
I copied in the past files on my laptop, so everytime it fails, I
re-copy "old" files that are changed after my attempts.
Thanks in advance.
Claudio

Try booting the from CD and start the Recovery Console, then read the
setuplog.txt, and the setupapi.log, to see what is causing this when it
boots. Also you are crossposting which is not a very good idea at times

or, you can go to system bios, tell your cd drive to boot first, not your
hard drive, then boot from cd, and format the hard drive.

Thanks everybody. Yes, I can get into Bios, and I've already tried to
boot from the cd so that I tried also to "fix" the previous version of
XP already installed. I can get into Recovery Console, but I don't
want to reinstall XP. I'm trying to sort it out without a
reinstallation or a new one.
The problem started cause my power supply decided not to work
properly, I thought it wasn't it (the pc turned on at the beginning),
so I tried to sort the problem out using MS KB, but with no good
results at all. When I realized it was the power supply, I had already
put hands on the system...that's the problem.
I'd like to come out this mess I started with the less loss possible.
Sorry if I posted on more than one group, but google allows that...
Can anybody sort this out?
Thanks again

Claudio, have you figured this out? I have a machine doing the same thing.
See recent threads in this newsgroup about sporadic rebooting and endless
boot cycle. Let me know if you found a fix!

Thanks,
Wilco

it cant find a registry file and that is why it thinks it skipped it so it
reboots over and over again

Have you found an answer to this problem ... I have the same thing. Starts
to boot,
goes through past the get on bios, starts the boot process and stops....then
reboots
again.. and again ... same process.
