XP installed on two swapping hard drives on the same PC?

I am trying to figure out some problems I am having. Not wanting for format
and start over again later to find out it is not a software problem, I have
the question...What would XP do if I swapped out my current main drive, then
put in a new drive. (a DiamondMax 10 80 gig for 42 dollars shipped, nice
reviews) and installed XP Pro with the same key. What would XP do? Would
that violate the ELUA? Would MS' authentication even notice a difference?
(it would be the exact same system minus the different drive) Could I swap
the two back and forth two back up data? Why is the sky blue? Why don't
fish drown? Etc, Etc....

I really HATE HATE HATE starting for scratch, even if it is the best thing
to do sometimes.

Works fine.
Would that violate the ELUA?
Nope.

Would MS' authentication even notice a difference? (it would be the exact same system minus the

Nope, it wont even notice.

Yep.

Why is the sky blue?

Because black isnt actually beautiful, silly.
Why don't fish drown?

They prefer to live as long as they can.
Etc, Etc....

Stoppit at once.

Hate produces massive internal scarring.

Even better, most drive manufacturers have downloadable tools which
allow you to copy everything from your old drive to the new.

WPA may ask you to reactivate and you'll possibly have to phone MS.

It shouldn't ask to reactivate with only a hard drive replacement. Of course
you never know since I have heard of lesser swaps with a reactivate
necessary.

What you need to do is :
1. remove the old HDD.
2. install the new HDD.
3. install Windows XP Pro.

If you can install Windows XP Pro without any problem & the Windows
boots up nicely, they is most likely no hardware issue, so that means
your old Windows is having problem.

You can use Windows XP without activation for 30 days, so just don't
activate it. Install what ever software & test, you have 30 days to do
it.

That is what I was hoping to do, I just did not want to deal with MS and any
of their crap. I'd hate to format my current drive and lose all my settings
for a possibly pointless endeavor. However if it solves my issues I have
plenty of time to make sure ALL of my data is off the old drive before
writing zeros.

Thanks everyone,
