XP installed hangs -keyboard de-activated

I ran XP Home setup & it went thru its motions. Then it restarted my
computer & said it was installing Windows. Then it loaded hardware &
drivers. BUT just before it asks me to choose 1 of 3 options for what kind
of install, it de-activates my keyboard. This makes it impossible for me to
press ENTER to let it know to continue the installation. The computer just
hangs, waiting for my response.
Any ideas?

Donna,

One answer may be that for what ever reason your keyboard is not compatable
with XP. Have you tried using a different keyboard? Also, go the the website
of whoever made your keyboard and check for new or updated drivers then run
a complete virus scan on your old Windows system before installing XP. Best
of luck.

As a follow up to help someone else, maybe - when XP de-activated my
keyboard, it also de-activated my USB hub. However, it would re-activate the
USB hub. So, like the genius that I am (although, mostly, I keep it hidden),
I plugged the keyboard into the USB hub and then the installation continued
successfully.
