XP Installation Problem

Hi

I'm installing XP home edition on a compaq 5240 desktop
with 300MB Ram, with Win 98
About 30 minutes into the install I get a Fatal Error and
the report says:
sxs.dll syntax error in manifest or policy file.

It then gives a long path to a file called controls.man
and says the problem is in line 5

Any ideas?
