XP Install Problem

I attempted to repair a XP installation with a XP Install disk, all proceeded
normally until I was prompted for the Product keys at which point I
discovered i was using the wrong XP disk. I attempted to cancel the
installation/repair. However, when I restart the system it does not provide
the option to cancel and continues with the install, there does not appear to
be an option to abort, ESC, F keys, safe mode provide no relief. Info on how
to cancel the install would be appreciated, TKS,

Just Input the Key on the Sticker on the Case and see if it will except it.
or Insert the Right CD and go through the Repair again.

The customer has "lost" the origional install disk, at this point I just want
to cancel the install and return to the origional OS but the option to cancel
is not available and I am in an install loop, suggestions on how to effect
cancellation are appreciated, TKS,

If you are using an OEM machine CD on an OEM machine you can insert the Key
on the sticker on the Case.
Press F8 and see if Last good Config will take you back?.
Or you can get the same OEM Recovery CD and try the Repair, nothing else I
can remember for now to help you.
Good luck.

Assuming that you CD you are using is the same as the "right" one,
with respect to Retail vs. OEM, Professional vs. Home, and Full vs.
Upgrade, it doesn't matter. The CDs are identical and do not contain
the product keys.

I guess I am not being clear: the customer does not have their disk, I
attempted to use my XP CD to boot and "repair", all proceeded normally except
I was prompted for the "Product Key" and mine did not work (I did not think
repair required a product Key), now I am caught in an "install loop"
everytime I reboot and cannot return to the origional installed XP
installation which is the objective. TKS,

Insert a Windows Install CD, with a valid Product Key, boot from CD and
follow the prompts to repair or re-install, that finally resolved my problem,
