XP Install on Dell

Trying to install windows xp pro on Dell insprion 7000. Gets to second to
last step, say installing drivers on bar I think, with about 32 minutes left
and screen goes black, hard drive light flashes on and off several seconds
(like it's still installing) and then that's it. Any ideas what to look for?

Boot into safe mode?
