I have just reinstalled xp on a new hdd. I have moved over
my favorites but I also want to move over the info from
webpages. What I mean is I had websites i would login into
and it remebered my name and pw so I want to keep this and
have it on my fresh install since i can not remeber the
info. I figure it is in cookies but i copied all coookies
over and notta. when i goto the login nothing there for
drop down. where is this info at so I can move it over?

Thanks

No, its usually not stored in cookies. Its stored in the Registry in a
subkey of:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider

That is specific to your old User ID (SID). This key is usually not
accessible to anyone, including administrators, if you're running NTFS as
your file system. It can be made accessible by adjusting the permissions of
the key. However, with that said, I've never tried saving the contents of
this key, and then re-importing it on a new installation (been meaning to),
to see if it would work.

To attempt to recover this information, you would need to see my tip on
Advanced Registry editing at www.dougknox.com, Win XP Tips section.

Use this information at your own risk.
