XP Install hangs

Because of all sorts of problems I formatted my C Drive. Then started
to reinstallWindows XP. Everything went fine until it came to 'install
Network ' at 32 minutes left and that is as far as it got.
I reformatted again and re tried and stopped at the same stage.
Altogether I repeated that exercise four times.!!
Any help would be appreciated.
 
Do not have the computer connected to anything external: printer, scanner,
network, etc and try again.
