Go to this web page, http://billsway.com/notes_public/WinXP_Tweaks, and download XP_OS_Installed.vbs. Double click the saved file to run it and in a few seconds it will popup the install date information.
Its Operating System - Operating system section includes this, decoded
from the registry. Note that if you do a 'repair' reinstall the date
given will be of that.
Also its Software - Licenses page will tell you the Product Keys used
for Windows and for several other items.
Are you opening a command window first, or just trying to run that command from Start, Run? My guess is the second. Click Start, Run, type in cmd click OK. Now in the command window type systeminfo and press Enter.
