XP Install CD's?

I have 3 Dell Inspirons and 3 XP install CD's from them (had to pay
extra for the last one).

Does it matter which one is used on which computer? Or are they
all the same?

I have the last one marked but the first two might go either way.

Hi

If XP is already installed on all three, then you will have to match the
appropriate CD with the correct PK, if, for instance you need to perform a
'Repair' install of XP on one of them.

What exactly do you need to do?

Nothing, yet. I have the CDs as a hedge against the certain day when hacking
around with partitions and Linux destroys the original XP installation.

So far everything's working, but give me time.

Look out for the MBR!

It seems to like the grub loader okay. I get a choice what to boot, or it boots Ubuntu
Linux if I don't choose in 30 seconds.

I'm not clear on who's in the MBR and who's elsewhere. Partition Magic had at it before
Linux got there, to shrink the NTFS that XP claimed, and create a linux swap, a FAT32
to share with Linux, and a couple exp3 partitions for Linux. Perhaps it has Partition
Magic's MBR now, who knows.

Oh well, at least wise is good.

Look out for any messages about finding some unclaimed disk space too

It's usually better NOT to let linux loose on those IMO
