XP insall failure. help me

I currently have window 98 on my computer. I purchased
Windows XP HOME EDITION. I tried to install it and gave me
problem. Once I get to the "Licensed Agreemrnt" it asks me
to push" F8", my computer does not let me pus it. It
allowed me to push" ESC". I NEED HELP ON THIS. Now when i
boot my computer, it asked what operation system "WINDOWS
XP SETUP" OR "WINDOWS 98"
PLEASE ASSIST ME

Allen, did you do a WinXP Hardware and Software Compability check before
trying WinXP Home.
