also in not coming...it directly goes to fresh install and asks me to
partition the current disk....i already have 2 partitions c: and d:...i'm
scared to go forward as i'm not sure if i'll be able to go back to my old
data in c drive ???

any help would be greatly appreciated....

Hi

After the next reboot, keep tapping the F8 key to see if you can access a
screen that has 'Last Known Good Configuration' as an option. Try that to
see if you can access Windows.

Turn on the computer and start tapping the F8 key rapidly just as soon
as the first information of any kind shows on the screen. Keep
tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and select Safe Mode
from the menu.

Also go to the website for the manufacturer of your hard drive and
download their free diagnostic utility, which will usually create a
bootable diskette or CD. Boot your computer with this and run the
diagnostic tests *only*. Do not attempt to fix or rebuild anything
until we have determined the nature and extent of the problem, as
applying the wrong fix can turn a simple repair job into an
unrecoverable mess.

Good luck
