xp home won't boot from hard drive

When starting windows xp home keep getting message......boot device not recegnized insert cd and press F1. Please help me . Need windows to start from hard drive as it did before.

Contact your hardware vendor to know how to go in bios and do setdefault in bios and reboot the computer.
OR
just install the windows xp with the help of installation cd.
