XP Home with NT Server

We have a network that has (1) NT Server and mixture of Windows 98 & XP
Pro clients that are part of a domain. We have usernames & passwords
for login to the domain.

We were given a free XP Home computer that we want to put on the
network. The user will do (1) thing: Open an application that is
installed to local hard drive that will access its required MS Access
database via a networked drive. This is the same application that other
users use on the network (probably not relevant). There may also be a
printer on the network the XP Home computer will need to use.

Will this work or does the computer have to be upgraded to XP Pro?

Thanks!

Windows XP Home Edition was designed for the "home"
environment. Windows XP Professional was designed for
the business environment with advanced networking
capabilities necessary to join a Domain network.

XP home is what it has been named..........home. Out of the box it is not
able to be joined to a domain. I believe I have seen some hacks somewhere
that would allow Home to be joined to a domain but off hand I don't remember
what they are or where I read them. Maybe someone here will tell you where
you can find that information.

Just create a matching user/password on both and then map drives from
the XP box. You don't need to be a domain member to access a domain.

Bingo.
I was wondering why no one had said that!

Thanks for not answering my question like you are my mother, like Carey
& Jeff did!

I had read where you could access a resource on the server without
joining the domain. Just had not had the opportunity to try it.

I know HP home means Home but it's a freebie --just wanted to see if
what we wanted to do was possible -not preferred.

Thanks for the reply.
