XP Home, Wireless LAN, and freezing

Hi there,

I've got a situation that I can't seem to find on here, so I figured
I'd post it.

I have a PC here with Windows XP Home (SP2) on it, and I put a wireless
NIC into it (the SMCWPCI-G model). Ever since then, I've noticed that
the machine freezes whenever I access the Internet for any period of
time or try to download something (it gets about halfway, then hangs.)

No error message in Event Viewer.
No IRQ conflicts.
The power settings for the NIC have been changed from Normal to Maximum
to Off (the only three it has).
I disabled Wireless Zero in services to get rid of the EAPOL error in
Event Viewer. This got the machine to hang in about half an hour
instead of within the first two minutes.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

A few other things I've tried that I forgot to mention:

1) I took out the NIC and put it into a different slot.
2) I uninstalled/reinstalled the software for it.
3) I switched the NIC with another one.

No luck.
