I have the following prob:

I have set up a local network with a router and some desktops. When trying
to reach the WIN 2K pc from my WIN XP I receive the message:

The other way round, from WIN 2K to the XP it is working.

Start by checking for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls, and for registry
setting restrictanonymous.

If no help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer,
and we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely:

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn

Thanks chuck,

had a look over there, but didn't find a solution.
The prob is the WIN 2K pc. I can access the XP pc, but not
the WIN 2K one.
Ping is working, the shares are working. but when using my
browser to go to 192.168.0.2 I receive "access denied".

With net view I receive: Access denied, System error 5.

OK, let's try and enumerate the symptoms. Start with "browstat status" and
"ipconfig /all", using instructions provided.

Also, please read my tutorial on solving network problems.
