XP Home will not boot

When trying to boot my system I end up at a screen that
says:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not
start successfully. A recent hardware or software change
might have caused this.

It gives the following options for statrting:
SAFE MODE
SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT
LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION
START WINDOWS NORMALLY

No matter which option is selected I come back to the
same screen.

I have the same problem. Did you change anything the last
time you had your PC working ok?

It may be necessary to do a Repair Install of your Windows XP.

Note that if your Windows XP disk is a "System Recovery Disk" provided
by the computer manufacturer then a Repair Install will probably not
be possible.

Intructions for doing the Repair Install can be found at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Doing a Repair
Install will preserve all of your installed application programs, user
data files, and program configuration settings. All Windows Updates
will have to be reinstalled.

Good luck
