I upgraded my XP Home eMachines laptop to XP Professional (retail) and ran
into a couple of errors.

First, setup could not locate (and wanted the driver disk) for 'VIAAGP1.SYS'
on VIA AGP FIlter Driver Disk. I checked out the eMachines site, the
eMachines recovery DVD, etc. and could not find the file. I would think that
the driver would already be on the machine from XP Home.

Second, I received a dialog titled "Advanced INF Installer" with the
following message: "INF Install falure. Reason: The parameter is incorrect."
I tried the upgrade a second time and the reason changed to "The handle is

Dialog title: Advance

Why not do a clean install of xp,at computer start-up,enter the BIOS,set to
boot to xp cd,(boot section, device priority) then boot to xp cd,select
install
xp,xp will then format the hd and install auto.XP doesnt need or use any of
the older os files.
