XP Home Upgrade question

I boght a "XP Home Upgrade" to upgrade from win98 to XP on a new machine I
bought.
The new machine obviously did not have win98 to start with - but I already
have a win98 cd and was thinking that I was going to use a "win98 license
key" that my ex girlfriend had on a machine that is not even connected to
the internet.
However - Now for some mysterious reason (maybe because I have so many
younger and more attractive girl friends with huge **** nowadays ;o) the
idiot ex girl friend does not want me to use her "win98 license key".
So I wonder - Will I run into problems if I use the "win 98 license key"
that I already have on another machine and which I then upgraded to XP Home.
Can Microsoft detect that it's the same win98 license key behind two
upgraded "XP home" machines and thus refuse more than one of these computers
to use "Windows update" etc.

Included when buying the "XP Home upgrade" was a form to fill in and the
possibility to buy an upgrade to "Vista Home Basic".
Maybe if I upgrade the computer once more it will be impossible for
Microsoft to detect that behind the scenes is a win98 license key that has
already been upgraded on another PC ?

Or maybe the lady is a tramp ?

You can install the upgrade of XP without having 98 installed.
Simply boot from the XP CD and it will ask you for a Win 98
CD at some time during the installation. It doesn't ask for a 98
key.

I don't know if there are any technical or legal issues with the 98 EULA since the
PC it was on has now been upgraded to XP. I tend to think that means 98 is no longer
installed on a PC. AFAIK you don't need to install 98 first but you will need the CD
as proof for a qualifier during the XP upgrade. When running the upgrade XP should
ask for proof of an earlier OS as a qualifier to upgrade, at that point you put the
98 CD in the drive and follow the prompts to cmplete the upgrade.

Wrong question. The Win98 Product Key is completely irrelevant to
using a WinXP Upgrade CD. In order for the Upgrade installation to
occur, you need to either have Win98 installed on the target computer,
or be able to insert the Win98 installation CD when asked for proof of
ownership of a qualifying product. The Product Key of the older OS is
not used.

No, but you're a parasite. Why not buy a legitimate full license of
your own, rather than mooching off other people?
