After installing some more updates, windows XP home now
has me click on my name at startup to logon. Before when
I turned on my computer it just booted. How do I get it
not to have me click on my name. I don't have different
accounts. It's just me. I'm not sure which update from
the windows update page it was, but I'd rather just boot
up when I turn on my computer. I know it's just 1 click,
but sometimes I just push the button and go finish
getting ready in the mornings.

Hi John,

I'd hazard a guess that one of the updates you installed was the .net
framework. It causes this behavior change because it adds a new user account
(which can be removed). Anyhow, start/run "control userpasswords2" (without
the quotes). Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click
apply/ok and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

At the run prompt, type control userpasswords2. Uncheck 'users must enter
username...'. Press ok and fill in your username in the automatic login box.
