I am getting some erroneous results when using the XP Search facility.
I am searching a folder (“All files and folders”, with subfolders,
system and hidden files included, etc.) for any file (i.e. filename
left blank, or specified as *.*) for files containing a specified
word.
The results come back as “Search is complete. There are no results to
display.”
even when I can open one of the files manually and see the matching
word in the file.
I’ve made sure that I’ve set the correct folder and other options.
I’ve also tried searching from a higher level folder. Same result.
Indexing is on for the selected drive and all its folders/subfolders.
What is going on?
Configuration. . .
Windows XP Home with SP3 installed. Fully patched.
