XP home SP1

Unable to set any jpg file as background on desktop from the desktop
properties, browse button. Checked knowledge base and it said this was fixed
in SP1 but its not working for me.

Any ideas appreciated.

It has just done so for me. And the pic had to be shrunk to fit and was
not on the same partition, so that discounts two ideas. Nor does it
seem to mind if the display is set to a lower color depth than the
picture,

So I am out of ideas, but that narrows the field
