XP home search very slow

Any help would be appreciated.

Running XP home addition.

Search on network drive folders is extremely slow. Compared to a 7 year old
Win NT 4.0 machine same network folders, same network.

You can try some of the tips mentioned at

to optimize the search ability inbuilt in xp. However the search in XP is
slow compared to other search. So you might want to consider running 3rd
party software such as:

Google Desktop- http://desktop.google.com/
Windows Desktop Search- http://toolbar.msn.com/

Once these applications index your data then search might be more faster.
