XP Home printer sharing

Dave B.

Hello,

We have a peer-to-peer network and share files and
printers. When trying to connect to a shared printer on a
Win95 machine, the XP Home computer sees the printer, but
will not print to it. It says the printer is not ready,
although it is ready and turned on.

I have loaded SP1, but nothing seems to be able to get
this computer to print to this printer. I checked the port
configuration, and it is directed to the shared
system/printer.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Other PCs not runnning XP can print successfully to the printer on the 95
PC?

Can you not 'see' the printer when you use the Add Printer Wizard on the XP
PC and browse to it?

I have been able to print to it from Win98SE machines and
yes, you can see it in the WinXP machine, you just can't
get it to print. It's icon says either offline or not
ready. It also won't let you access it's Properties dialog
box, or if it does (wierd), it won't let you change
anything. Being able to access the Properties box is an
infrequent occurance.
