How to make a XP Home edition Laptop part of the network. I want this laptop
to join the domain. I dont see options to add this to domain and find only
WORKGROUP option. Someone in the past told me that an XP Home edition Laptop
also can be configured to logon to a domain. How to?

Windows XP Home Edition cannot join a domain.
You'll need to upgrade to Windows XP Professional.

Somebody lied to you. XP Home can access some domain resources, but
it doesn't have the capability (nor can you give it the capability) to
join a Domain. To do that you need Pro.

XP Home cannot *join* a domain in the full sense. You would have to
upgrade to Pro for that. It can be arranged to logon to a specific
resource in the domain, if the domain admin sets that up for you
