What happens when you attempt to boot from the XP CD? If it's ignored,
change the boot order in the BIOS so the CD is seen before the HD. On
some systems, you can press F10 during startup to assing the boot to a
different device.

Gosh, now that's the part I can't figure out. I have read where others
have had this problem and the response is changing something in the BIOS, but
that I don't understand. Any further help is greatly appreciated.

When you restart the computer, press F1, F2, Esc, F10 or whatever gets
you into the BIOS setup screen. Look around for the boot sequence and
change it so the CD is listed before the hd. Sometimes the first
black/white screen will say "Press F1 for Setup", or whatever the case.
