Trying to fix a friends laptop computer - Toshiba P25-S520 - On trying to
start up it gets that <windows root > \ system32\ ntoskrnl .exe message - I
have tried using the recovery disk to no avail ( the laptop did not come with
a start-up CD ) - I tried copying startup files to a CD from microsoft since
there is no floppy drive in the laptop - They wont work - How do I fix the
missing or corrupt ntoskrnl file if I cant even start the laptop ?

I had that same problem and was able to correct it by replacing the
ntoskrnl.exe file. I got a new one from the WinXP CD
and just copied and pasted it to the system32 folder on the hard drive.
But, I was able to connect the drive to a working
computer.

I wish I had a WINXP CD but didnt get one with the computer which was bought
new - all it came with was a recovery disk which does nothing to fix the
missing or corrupt file 0 Is there any way you could copy and email me that
file ?

Didnt think it was a good idea to post my email addy here so sent it to you
by clicking on your name
Did it come thru?

I tried sending it but got it back from my email service that it was too
large a file. Richard in AZ is correct about using a
ntoskrn.exe from any working XP computer.
