Is it possible to connect two machines that have been installed with the
identical installation cd, having identical serial numbers as far as xp is
concerned ?

To the best of my knowledge,
the installation CD used, and product key used during installation
play no part in networking.

2 machines with identicle product IDs can be networked together without
problem.

That's how many large customers set up
many machines, from a standard disk image.


The only issue you may come up against is that you should only install one
copy of XP per machine. Product Activation attempts to enforce this, and so
is a copy has already been used on one machine, it may not activate on
another.
