XP Home log in

After booting the computer I click on the icon to log on. It says loading
settings, then the desktop flashes for a second. Then it says logging off and
saving settings. It won't log on. I tried to boot the computer in safe mode
but the same thing happens. Does anybody have any ideas?

Its a possibility that it could be hard ware device thats preventing you
from starting up properly and loging in. Unplug UPS hardware you might have
attached the computer, its also possible that it might be a virus.

Run scan with one of following products:
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
